Researcher Phd Candidate
Phd research project to investigate the aerodynamic interaction of a Boundary Layer Ingesting (BLI) propeller. A dedicated wind-tunnel model has been designed to study the aerodynamic mechanisms that influence both the aerodynamic performance of the system and the acoustic signature. Furthermore, a novel propeller design optimized specifically for BLI has been manufactured and tested with the fully integration BLI wind-tunnel model.
Staff Researcher
Researcher and project engineer at the Flight Performance and Propulsion department as part of the EU-funded CENTRELINE project. The focus of the CENTRELINE project is to investigate and mature fuselage-centered Boundary Layer Ingestion (BLI) technology to reduce the fuel consumption. The Propulsive Fuselage Concept (PFC) is a promising concept that incorporates an aft-mounted BLI fan and is aimed at entry-to-service in 2035. Work activities include Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) aerodynmaic analysis and shape optimzation of the PFC.
Project Engineer
The job involved the analysis of the structural integrety of a wide variety of industrial design products using high-fidelity Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations. Consequent optimization steps were proposed to the industrial designer to improve the functional performance, reduce the product cost and enhance the manufactureablity of the product.
Student/Stagiair
Responsible for the conceptual design of a new aircraft to be developed and made by Blackshape S.p.a. Within a four person group responsible for the Class I and II design together with preliminary structural design.
