I have a strong background in photonic integration, both as a generalist, spanning the whole chain of optical chip design, fabrication and characterization, and as a specialist, with main expertise in ultrafast integrated laser technology and microwave photonics. Over the last 17 years I have worked with all the major photonic integration platforms, i.e. indium phosphide, silicon on insulator and silicon nitride planar lightwave circuits.Currently, I am a Full Professor at TU Eindhoven, and a part-time group leader at Aarhus University. I have a main interest in sensors, microwave and terahertz photonics, quantum technology and chip-to-chip and on-chip interconnects. I am the Principal Investigator on four research projects and participate in six more, and have raised a total funding of over €5M for this research since 2013.
