I’m an ecologist and earth system scientist, with experience in computer modelling, organizing and performing fieldwork under harsh conditions and statistical analysis. I’ve 3 years work experience as researcher at the Vrije University Amsterdam. During my masters studies I performed an internship in Barrow Alaska in association with San Diego state University. I was a researcher at the VU Amsterdam, on the EU FP7 project ICOS-Inwire. At this position I oversaw the development of a wires sensor network for a mobile autonomous eddy covariance system, and tested this equipment at three sites with harsh conditions. A separate task of this position involved the analysis of metrics for the testing of carbon cycle models, and reporting on recommendations on its use. I’m fascinated by the complexity of natural systems and their myriad feedbacks, this is what drew me into the ecology and earth system science. I’m particularly drawn to marine and arctic environments; they are still some of the least understood environments on earth and at the same time be most threatened by climate change. I love the challenge of programming though also thoroughly enjoy working under harsh condition outdoors in nature to get the actual data. I have a BSc in biology with a specialty in ecology and a MSc in climate studies with a specialty in earth system science both at Wageningen University. I followed a minor in marine biology at Rijks University Groningen and the NIOZ. And followed extra course in GIS and remote sensing.
