Perform related operations in a vector control district for the prevention and control of mosquitoes and other vectors. Independently inspect assigned work routes for mosquito breeding grounds such as catch basins, gutters, cesspools, storm drains, ditches and residential premises. Larval samples are taken for laboratory analysis and pesticides are applied to positive breeding sites. Work as part of a crew for larger breading sites such as ponds, river bottoms, and spreading grounds.

We are testing unique chemical formulations for their potential to influence (attract/repel) host seeking behavior of vector insects in day-to-day experiments with the goal to develop our technologies into lifesaving products in the fight against mosquito borne diseases. Some of my responsibilities at Olfactor Laboratories are to supervise our onsite insectary and vivarium, providing daily instruction to the full time insectary technicians, part-time staff employees, and interns, perform field trial testing and logistics, and am in charge of shipping Dangerous Goods via ground, sea and air for both domestic and international partners and vendors. Interacted with customers from all walks of life. Took food and drink orders and entered them into the kitchen computer system. Made sure all orders were accurate and acceptable to my costumers. Constantly memorized new food items and cocktail drinks. Worked weekend night shifts which were the busiest rush hours. Very quick on my feet and efficient. On a regular basis I would be serving large group parties of 25 or more individuals. Developed team building skills and worked together with other servers to make sure all food was hot when delivered to tables. Resolved as many problems/issues that customers had on my own when possible without needing the involvement of the manager on duty. When needed I would help out hostesses at front desk taking reservations, over the phone to-go food orders, and operated the register. Obtained a wealth of people skills experience.

Participated in a six month internship program with the Stem Cell Center at the University of California Riverside where I worked with mouse embryonic stem cells in which my main research focus was to differentiate these embryonic stem cells into microglia, the resident macrophages of the CNS.• Biological hazard experience. As an Undergraduate Student Researcher, I worked with Drosophila melanogaster, generally known as the common fruit fly. My research focused on studying the overall fitness effects of Curcumin, a diarylheptnoid found in turmeric, when added to the diet of transgenic Drosophila models of Alzheimer’s disease.
