As the departmental head of EMC at the Element Hull site I have the responsibility of managing a small team of EMC test engineers to achieve efficient throughput of technical projects, in a pre-defined time frames to help our client achieve there CE mark (Europe) and FCC (USA) certifications. These technical projects can consists of a wide variety of types including but not limited too IT equipment (EN55032 & EN55024), medical devices (EN/IEC 60601-1-2) and radio device (EN301-489 series).Responsibilities include:• Liaise with client throughout testing phase, often from first contact to, testing, to reviewing and issuing a technical test report.• Review and discuss the technical requirements of test standards with clients to explain how it will affect the testing of the device under test.• Provide technical training to the EMC testing engineers within the group to increase there knowledge base and ultimately allow them to test to a wider range of equipment and test standards.• Organise the allocation of resources - both human (engineers) and hardware (test equipment) to provide efficient throughput of testing with minimal delay to the end client.

As an experienced EMC Test Engineer, I have technical abilities to read test standards and use relevant test equipment to evaluate and report against a product standard. I regularly test a wide range of products from telephone equipment to medical equipment, industrial LAZER's to commercial alarm systems. Some of the test standards I have tested against / used include the EN55022/EN55024 (IT equipment) and the EN301489 series (radio devices), through to EN61547(immunity for lighting equipment), EN60601 (medical devices) and EN298 (Automatic burner control systems for burners and appliances burning gaseous or liquid fuels)Responsibilities include:• Test to a wide range of commercial and industrial equipment to EMC test standards.• To write technical test reports.• As a senior engineer to provide training / hands on help and assistance to less experienced test engineers.• Development of new / upgrade to testing techniques and implementation of commercially available software to cover changes to test standards.• To liaise and provide advice to clients on testing requirements, techniques and possible solutions to EMC related non-compliances.
