Knowledge of HazMat Codes, STCC (Standard Transportation Commodity Codes), Product Classes, Packing Groups, CLM Sighting Codes and experience with MSDS sheets.
  • Exxonmobil

    Moncton, N.B.
•Experience with Railinc & Umler as I was responsible for uploading all the gauge tables (strapping tables) into Imperial Oil's newly implemented system as this data was used in junction with the product temperature and density in order to determine the outage required to load the tank cars. I was also responsible for implementing the policies and procedures within Imperial Oil stating what guidelines needed to be followed when applying for a Temporary Movement Certificate with Transport Canada for tank cars experiencing a leak (most commonly caused by a leaking bottom valve or defective gasket) for tank cars containing hazardous product that needed to be sent to a 3rd party repair shop outside our facility. This was before the recent Transport Canada regulation changes.
  • Exxonmobil
    Rail Shipment Specialist
    Exxonmobil Jul 2010 - Feb 2013
    Moncton, N.B.
•Knowledge of CLM Sighting Codes as I was responsible for expediting (tracing) numerous Imperial Oil tank car fleets to ensure the tank cars would reach their destination in a timely fashion. I was also responsible to follow up with the railroads whenever delays occurred with our shipments. If for any reason tank cars were Bad Ordered in transit, I would then be responsible to log the event and request an ETR (Estimated Time of Repair). Another important task as a Rail Shipment Specialist was to divert empty inbound tank cars heading towards our refineries when the influx was too high to handle to 3rd party storage facilities. This would require a lot of coordinating and planning with both the railroads and the 3rd party storage facilities. I would also be responsible for requesting disposition with the repair shops anytime one of our tank cars required repairs which needed to be completed at a repair facility.

    Rail Operations Specialist
    Exxonmobil Jul 2010 - Feb 2013
    Moncton, N.B.
•Planner and Scheduler for Imperial Oil East Edmonton AB (Strathcona) and Sarnia ON refineries. My responsibilities included me providing the loading manifest to the loaders (documentation showing the outage, the product name and volume required for each tank car) as well as the certification sheet confirming the storage tank in which the product would be coming from on a daily basis. This was a crucial part of moving product out of the refinery as we needed to ensure that a proper volume outage as well as a valid last contained was listed on the loading manifest beside each tank car number in order to avoid contaminating the product loading into the container. I was also responsible in providing the list of tank cars required for today and tomorrow's loading (switch list) to the local rail crew as they needed to know which tank cars they needed to spot (put in place) at the loading rack. Once the tank cars were loaded, I was also responsible in provide our local rail crew at the refinery with the disposition (CN or CPRS outbound list) for each tank car in order to allow them to build their trains. This would help ensure that all tank cars would be given to the proper class 1 railroad which ultimately allowed them travel to the correct consignee .
