Intern - Soccer Operations
I have been fortunate to attain a position as an intern with MLS club Colorado Rapids. Working directly with Brian Crookham, Head of Youth Development, I have been able to experience many facets of working within and managing a professional youth soccer academy. Shadowing Brian has given me exposure to the various operations and tasks that are required of a Head of Youth Development within a professional club; from organizing administrative paperwork within the club, to running and overseeing player tryouts, shadowing development academy training sessions and being involved in First Team game day operations, the experience has been invaluable. The experience has vastly expanded my understanding of the day to day workings of a professional youth soccer academy and fueled my desire to work in the field of Youth Soccer.

During summer vacation The Swan Inn employed me as a part time bartender and waiter, teaching me drink and food serving skills as well as introducing me to the world of customer service.
Football Coach
I began the Youth Coach Development Program (YCDP) that S.A.F.A offered aged 16, after having been a player with the company. As part of the YCDP program I worked voluntarily for one year, shadowing experienced coaches. Having completed one year of voluntary work, I was placed on the Level 1 Certificate in Coaching course. Upon completing the Level 1 Coaching badge I was promoted to coach in sessions at the development centre, under the supervision of a Level 3 coach. I was then, given an after school club in which to enhance my skills. Following 6 months in this capacity, I was further promoted to a part-time coach. In this year as a part-time coach I was placed in 3 after school sessions, as well as being made responsible for both development and advanced centre sessions. Having completed this year, I moved into a full-time position within the company. This meant I was delivering the Football Program that S.A.F.A offered to a local private school (Buckswood). As well as delivering the football program to Buckswood, I worked in 5 schools, and continued to deliver sessions for both the development and advanced centres. Furthermore I began taking on managerial duties within the company. Working directly under the company CEO Jim Colston, I began to run the development centre; duties for this included managing the other coaches to organize the over 50 children in the centre, registering and collecting money from customers, and opening and securing the facility before and after the session. In conjunction with this, I was given managerial duties that required me to organize coaches with after school sessions. This involved scheduling employees with certain sessions, making sure all coaches had the correct equipment, and liaising with the school to ensure exemplary performance standards had been met.
