About Martin Chavez

I am deeply committed to sustainability, the promotion of Latinos at all levels of the American Dream, the reduction of our carbon footprint, and the utilization of new technologies in urban environments to assist policy makers in their decision making and citizens in enhancing the quality of their lives in urban areas. As a 5 year State Senator, 12 year large city mayor, former Chair of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Water Council and USCM Trustee, past member of the National Building Museum Task Force on the Future of Cities, past member of Newsweeks Green Advisory Group and the U.S. Forrest Service Task Force on the Future of Urban Forrestry and as an activist who began working with Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta, I am committed simply to creating opportunity for future generations. I am enjoying my new work as well as my memberships on the Board of Directors of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) and the Board of Directors of American Rivers.
