I took this job to pass the time during Garden Leave. It turned out it was a lot of fun and very flexible with family life, so months became years. After a decade of Business to Business and heavy targets it was nice to have a relaxed environment of selling. Back to basics. The job is more about social work and rapport building than bottom lines. I worked hours around my home life and hobbies doing a third of the corporate hours I once did, for more take home pay, although, my conversion was consistent at 50% over the year which is high for Windows. No cancellation in that figure either, I don't force sales on so they rarely cancel.Selling is the same conversation no matter what the product is. be nice, be clean, be open, talk about them, learn their needs, worries, offer shared experiences and once you can learn no more about each other, apply your solution to what you have learned. if you cannot, then tell them and leave. No sleeze, No bravado, No Bullish attitude. Just be decent.

I ended in Scotland, took an office Job in Lincoln, basic customer service role, coming from a totally different manual background, I quickly got on top of the work and excelled. I then moved to phone based insurance sales, smashed my targets, then to Account Management Sales, once again, smashed targets. I was then seconded to a sister company we acquired to develop a sales and account management function to prevent loss of clients after a team walkout. within a year I with one colleague, had stopped all losses and started to grow again. We created and trained and functional account management team and got growth back on track to pre-purchase levels within two years. I was then asked to help redevelop products and go win new accounts whilst bringing back the ones already lost. I consistently exceeded all targets.I left before dissolution (the plan was always to gain control and then merge with the larger existing business) going back to Lincoln felt like a step backwards and living from a suitcase didn't work with having a young family.
