We plaatsen de woningen in één dag op locatie. MorgenWonen bouwt al acht jaar op deze manier. Heel succesvol; we hebben er al 3000 gebouwd! Maar dat moet meer worden. Meer aantallen, maar ook meer types. Als directeur zal ik me erop richten om dit te realiseren.

I lead Corporate Development within VolkerWessels, tasked with defining strategies, supporting M&A transactions and making operational improvement programs successful. We work at group, division and OpCo level across VolkerWessels. My team consist mostly of former strategy and M&A consultants for whom the Corporate Development team of VolkerWessels is a stepping stone into a senior role within VolkerWessels.VolkerWessels is the second largest construction firm in The Netherlands (~6B turnover), mostly active in construction and real estate development and road, rail, energy and telecom infrastructure. VolkerWessels consistently outperforms its Dutch peers in terms of financial performance (EBITDA and ROCE). VolkerWessels is a decentral organisation with >120 operation companies across 6 divisions.

As a program manager, I was tasked with defining strategies at different levels within the VolkerWessels organisation (group, division, and OpCo level) and with making operational improvement programs succesful.In my role as program manager I led and supported >20 programs across our Infrastructure and Energy divisions in The Netherlands. Programs ranged from growth strategy definition and implementation to defining required operational changes to underperforming operating companies.

Responsible for agreeing and delivering project scope, driving strategic insights, and leading teams of BCG and client employees. As a project leader Martin deepens his experience in Industrial Goods, Construction, and Public Sector. Martin is actively involved in training and mentoring junior employees, and interviewing new recruits.Case experience includes:- Developed commercial growth strategy for a global express and parcel provider- Developed strategy for a testing, inspection & certification company (incl. M&A) • Defined strategy for a public development bank within tight mandate constraints- Identified and agreed preferred organizational design to develop IT solutions for a railways operator

Responsible for driving independent sections of BCG's projects, typically at large multinational companies. Together with client teams, I performed complex analyses, prepared decision documentation and presented results to senior executives. As a consultant Martin gained experience in a range of industries, with primary focus on Industrial Goods, Construction, and Public Sector. In addition, Martin was actively involved with recruiting and interviewing new consulting staff.Case experience includes:- Implemented improved project management processes for a dredging contractor- Identified and agreed overhead reduction measures for a steel manufacturer- Reviewed maintenance procurement strategy and agreed improvement measures for a railways asset owner- Supported transformation to scaled agile principles for a major Dutch bank- Identified impact of developments in the car industry on the automotive coatings business- Re-designed the strategy for a major dairy trading company

Arup is a multinational engineering consultancy (11,000 staff) headquartered in London. The firm is well known for award winning global projects. I was a senior engineer and design leader in the Netherlands group specialized in the design and assessment of bridges.In this role I led multidisciplinary teams and projects from feasibility to construction. I built trusted relationships with clients and I liaised with clients, authorities, architects and contractors to manage design and construction risks to achieve business objectives.Duties include:- Project 'Bridge at Ewijk'. Preliminary and detailed design of architectural footbridges, cable-stayed bridges and the assessment and strengthening of steel bridges in the Dutch highway network. Additional roles as computational design specialist and Safe by Design expert.Projects include: - Ponte Palazzo, Den Bosch; preliminary design (VO). Pedestrian- and cycle bridge.- Ecobrug, Tilburg. Construction design (UO). Cable stayed bridge, 120m main span.- Galecopperbrug, Utrecht. Preliminary renovation design (VO). Cable stayed highway bridge, 320m long.

At Buro Happold I have been involved in the design of a wide range of challenging, architectural structures. The projects included refurbishments of buildings, retractable roofs, bridges, long-span roof structures as well as small-scale concrete structures. An example is the XRL West Kowloon Terminus station in Hong Kong. As the project engineer I was involved in the preliminary design of the free form roof structure.I have developed a particular interest in developing conceptual designs for long-span structures.

Research project on the application of an artificial intelligence algorithm to the design of structures in ultra-high performance concrete.I published and presented the results of this research at the IASS symposium in Acapulco (2008), the UHPFRC symposium in Marseille (2009) and the HPFRCC symposium in Ann Arbor (2011).

Work included developing conceptual building designs and designing an algorithm for optimising structural geometries based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD)

Supervising materials science practicals involving the determination of structural properties of timber, aluminium and concrete. Mixing and pouring concrete as part of a research on optimal concrete mixture design. Creating and checking cases and helping undergraduate students with materials science courses.
