Responsible for all aspects of hardware and software development for the Impulse300 Metal Film Thickness Metrology System. The instrument enabled the measurement of interconnect layers on semiconductor wafers with angstrom level repeatability. The technology is based on optical detection of surface acoustic waves launched by picosecond laser excitation. Initial diode-pumped, frequency-doubled microchip lasers built in house. Active Impulse was acquired by Philips in 1998 resulting in substantial gain for the investors and founders.
