Martin Gersch is full professor at the School of Business & Economics at Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, and there a founding member of the Information Systems Department. He is also the head of the Entrepreneurship Education at FU Berlin (Digital Entrepreneurship Hub: http://de-hub.org) as well as the head of the Competence Center E-Commerce (http://www.ccec-online.de). Since 2017, he is Principal Investigator and Associate Researcher („Digital Transformation“) at the Einstein Center Digital Future. Since October 2024, he is an elected member of the Board of Directors and one of the two spokespersons of the ECDF-BoD (ECDF: http://digital-future.berlin). Since 2021, he is part of the Health-X dataLOFT consortium (http://health-x.org), that is building the digital health data space of the future. As part of this lighthouse project, he is developing new business models for digital health innovations in federated data spaces, among other things. Previously he was a responsible researcher at the DFG Pfadkolleg Research Center on “Organizational Paths” at the Dahlem Research School of Freie Universität Berlin as well as at the Focus Area "DynAge" (Excellence Initiative of the German Research Foundation DFG). Martin received a PhD and his venia legendi in “Business Administration” as well as in “Information Systems Research” from the Ruhr-University of Bochum, Germany. He published more than 160 papers and serves as a reviewer for, amongst others, the DFG, WI/BISE, OSS, ECIS, AMCIS, EGOS, SMS, AoM.Specialties: Martin’s current research areas are technology-driven change and transformation processes (Digital Transformation), federated data spaces and platform strategies, service engineering, business model analysis, entrepreneurship, Digital Health, management and economic theory, innovative teaching and learning concepts (e-/blended learning arrangements).
