These days Martin is primarily involved in philanthropic projects, particularly in the Jewish world.The Glatt Charitable Trust and associated entities have been the founding and main financier of Jewish Interactive where Martin is currently the director. Jewish Interactive, started by daughter Nicky Newfield, is probably the leader in producing and supplying inter-active EdTech products/apps for young Jewish children, to schools, and to an increasing degree to supplementary schools and the home, primarily in English at this stage.Martin is also involved in other philanthropic projects, for example at the Western Wall in Jerusalem.Martin and his wife Melanie came on Aliyah to Israel in 2013, but they still maintain a home in South Africa to keep in touch with family and friends. Prior to Aliyah, Martin was active in business in South Africa, initially as a financial and then operations director. Subsequently he was appointed as an non -executive director and often chairman of more than ten public listed companies on The Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Martin received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Witwatersrand University South Africa, and a Masters’ Degree of Business Administration from the University of South Africa.Martin and Melanie have been married for over 45 years. Their Daughter Nicky also lives in Jerusalem with husband Jonny and their three children.Martin has always been a keen sportsman, participating in many team and individual events. He has run marathons and ultra- marathons, cycled in many cycle races and competed in the full Iron Man Triathalon a number of times.
