  • Rise Chemical Process And Pharmaceutical Development
    Project Manager/Senior Scientist
Rise Chemical Process And Pharmaceutical Development Sep 2017 - Present
    Södertälje, Sweden
My role involves project management of both contract research and partly grant-financed collaboration projects with industry co-financing focussing on developing and optimizing new chemical manufacturing processes/technology in areas ranging from Life science to Bioeconomy projects targeting biofuels and chemicals from renewable feedstocks. As before there is a strong focus on applied metal catalysis for industrial scale manufacture, which is an area of key importance for establishing a circular economy chemical industry going forward. My role also involves sales and marketing of the services of RISE Chemical Process and Pharmaceutical Development as well as writing of grant applications for partially grant-funded research and development projects in the above fields, something which during the last two years has been particularly successful for the Bioeconomy area.I have in my previous and current roles within RISE been one of a group of dedicated and industrially experienced scientists who have built up the broad capability in Södertälje concerning catalytic hydrogenation and other thermochemical processes for upgrading of renewable feedstocks, which now is highly active in several projects targeting renewable transport fuels and Chemicals from different types of biomass.

I am leading a group of skilled experts within the area of metal catalysis for (industrial) chemical process development. Having access to state of the art high troughput automation equipment and a very broad precatalyst/ligand/catalyst library and decades of collective experience within the fields of catalysis and chemical process R&D, the group can develop optimal catalytic processes for industrial manufacture of small molecules in a very cost-effective manner. We also have access to enzyme kits and experience with developing and optimizing chemical processes using enzymes. The group importantly performs also fundamental, grant-financed research within the catalysis field in addition to fee for service contract R&D. Being part of SP Process Development AB and the Technical Research Institutes of Sweden, SP, we can solve very complex issues through the broad multidisciplinary skills base of the institute (link to web page http://www.sp.se/en/units/sppd/Sidor/default.aspx).
