This work was related to the interaction of transition metal atoms on top of a graphene layer. The simulations of the magnetic properties like spin and orbital magnetic moment or the magnetic anisotropy energy were carried out with the FPLO code developed and maintained at the IFW in Dresden. A parallel project was conducted on endohedral metallo-fullerenes. Main collaboration took place with PD Dr. Manuel Richter.

The preliminary title of the thesis is "Multiple scattering theory for the description of defects in metallic alloys and oxide systems".In the first two years of the contract, I supervised first year students in chemistry during their basic practical physical training. This task included teaching them and marking their preparation and their written reports. Due funding of DAAD and DFG (SFB project), I was for several short visists (each 1-2 weeks) in Turku (Finnland), Stockholm (Sweden) and La Plata (Argentina).

At first the position was with the Institute of Mathematics. Checking weekly homework of students for the Analysis seminar .In the following year, the work was done for the Institute of Physis.The homework for the statistical physics seminar was to be marked.
