I then decided to move to more high risk and difficult trends which included high fashion.- This involved sourcing textiles from Japan, South Korea and Taiwan where there were smaller minimums but higher prices.- I would then make presentations to the major retailers in Australia whom I had very close relationships with all of the controllers and buyers.- I would arrange for the textiles not to come directly to Australia but via China for cutting and manufacturing.In the later years, as fashion fabrics and garments were becoming more and more difficult to sell, I had to look for fresh new markets and opportunities. I then approached companies such as Lincraft, Aldi and more importantly Spotlight with new concepts and ideas which had not previously been their regular type of business. I collected fashion type homewares and packaged them for different retail chain stores.Among my successes were Poolside Bean Bags, Sofa Throws, Sets of Nursery Quilts, Pillow and Nappy Bags, Bathroom ceramic toothbrush and soap holders.The most satisfying achievement in this role was successfully negotiating to source and supply fashion garments to Myer Miss Shop and Just Jeans.
