Having had the experience of transitioning the Sales Department of an organization from a regional company to an international provider, my next challenge was to increase my managerial, organizational and technical skills within Gouda Refractories, to prepare Gouda Refractories for the future. Gouda Refractories is both a manufacture of refractory materials (such as charmotte bricks and concrete elements) for the Aluminum and Petrochemical industries, and an international engineering and contracting company for furnace projects.My focus on the development and sales of refractory materials (eg for aluminum kilns) within the international aluminum market, exploring and developing new markets and products, identifying new needs in close contact with (potential) client, controlling finances before and during a project, required a new type of organizational structure. I have successfully increased flexibility and delegation of responsibility within the company, defining accountability throughout.

Kijlstra, a manufacture of sewage and pavement products, and a sister company of Intercodam in Amsterdam (see below), expanded considerably in 2005: from a company focussing mainly on the North of Holland to an international company. The Board of Directors, well aware of my success and experience within Intercodam, requested I transitioned to Kijlstra to re-organise their sales for both regional and international activities. My responsibilities for the total package ranged from client sales to financial commitment and payment, including the development of new products to meet new requirements. Within Kijlstra

The challenge of international markets was the reason I moved to Intercodam in 1997. At the time Intercodam known for its success both in industry and in the civil market, represented many foreign companies in the Netherlands. During this period I was responsible for international sales, focusing namely on Germany and Belgium. As the head of the Sales Department of Milieu from 2002 on (4 sales staff and administrative support), we targeted sales in the disposal market, pavement market but also the market of concrete channels for heavy industry. We also developed a number of different sales strategies including presence at relevant shows and fairs. Close contact with clients in this period resulted in the development of several new patented products

In 1994 Denys, their first project assignment for contracting of drilling concrete pipes in the Netherlands, offered me a position within the start-up. My activities focused on engineering underground drilling and welding projects. I was responsible for project engineering, negotiations and finances, but also for project management of projects with a workforce of over 30 engineers. The two biggest projects: a steam project of EPZ at the Moerdijk and hot water pipes of the Westland, were very innovative, exciting and successful.

Dredging was the focus of my major practical assignment in college and when an opportunity arised within Ham Dredging, I applied. My position, initially comparable to the previous, began with acquisition of equipment through tender, price calculation and financial project supervision

My first position (straight from college) in the planning department of Dura Vermeer, involved acquisition of materials and subcontracting for road pavements and sewerage projects.
