I am a Captain on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner with British Airways and I have 39 years of flying experience, 36 years professionally, which started back in the 80’s in the Royal Air Force. I completed operational tours on 47Sqn flying the C130 Hercules and at Central Flying School as a pilot flying instructor. My Instructor experience ranged from ab-initio Flying training, to Low Level and formation flying instruction, and as Chief Pilot Instructor I was responsible for the training standardisation and professional development of all of the Squadron Instructors and student pilots. Since leaving the RAF in 1998 I have also done a variety of other roles for Continued Professional Development, varying from Pilot Recruitment, working as a Pilot Ambassador for the Airline meeting with other Corporate leaders to showcase the airline, Politics as a Borough Councillor for 8 years at Waverley Borough Council, to Teamwork Facilitation to surgical teams within the NHS. I use this array of experience now as a presenter and I am an accomplished keynote speaker, working with companies like Vitality Insurance to share strategies for better Decision making, gleaned from a lifetime of experience doing this in a time critical environment such as aviation. I have also spent the last 22 years working in the construction industry, and I am a skilled craftsman and carpenter/joiner. In 2020 COVID hit the Aviation industry very hard, and finding myself with more time on my hands I started to use these skills combined with a notable enthusiasm for aviation to design and create bespoke aviation themed furniture, using aircraft parts retrieved from retired Boeing aircraft.
