As the Program Director at Generation Citizen NY, I oversee program delivery, quality, strategy and expansion in New York City and State. Over the course of three years I have nearly tripled the program reach to an annual impact of 120 classroom projects in 50 school partners and expanded into new 5 districts across New York State. Through the process, I have recruited school partners, managed grant deliverables, built relationships and sustained partnerships. As a coaching and professional development facilitator for teachers, I collaborate with, motivate and guide individual teachers. Through class visits and relationship-building, I support teachers to set individualized goals and provided feedback and clear direction for growth in those specific focus areas. Over the past year, I adapted programming and support to meet the needs of teachers and students and remain relevant in the COVID/virtual learning environment. I have shifted our teacher supports, created virtual professional development content and virtual curriculum edits to ensure that teachers and students maintain access to our programming and effective support.

Social Studies at Community School 219 New Venture Academy, a New York City Department of Education public school in the South Bronx. With a focus on the importance of project-based education, culturally responsive curriculum, strong instruction and community/relationship building within my classroom, I was able help my students make transformational growth. Through various leadership roles within my school community, I was able to take the innovation and successes happening in my classroom and increase the scale of my impact throughout the school community. As my school’s representative of the UFT teacher’s union and member of the School Leadership Team, I communicated, collaborated and built relationships with multiple parties to achieve common goals.

2011 Teach For America Corps Member teaching 8th Grade Social Studies in the South Bronx. After my two year commitment at my placement school, I continued working at the school for an additional five years.
