My passion is helping non-native English-speaking professionals to make progress in their careers.Students’ targets can be varied, from wanting to get a job in an international company in their home country, to adding foreigners to their client base, from getting a job in a foreign country to going on business trips abroad. What all these aims have in common is the necessity to be able to communicate effectively with native-English speakers.It is precisely this skill which we teach at English Differently.The first component of this skill is mastering conversational English, meaning both general vocabulary as well as colloquial language such as phrasal verbs and idioms. The second component is developing an understanding of British and American culture, history, politics and current affairs.While studying for a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) I was first introduced to active learning theories and these ideas have had a significant influence on the study system that I have created at English Differently.I have studied a number of foreign languages, in particular, Russian and Portuguese. Studying foreign languages is, in my opinion, an essential activity for any English teacher, as it gives us the opportunity to view the learning process through the student’s eyes. I have found this knowledge to be invaluable in my own teaching. I am very pleased to have already achieved significant success in helping students to communicate with foreign clients by phone, to take part in business trips, to move to better positions and to find work abroad.
