Marble Arch is recognised internationally as the gateway to London. As part of the West End, its prestige and significance is renowned.A group of local businesses and landlords in the area have joined forces to ensure that the area can continue to compete with other locations in London as a commercial, retail, leisure and tourism destination. A Business Improvement District (BID) for the Marble Arch area is proposed, to make this happen.A BID is a legally defined body set up following a democratic ballot of businesses within a defined area who are asked to vote in support of a detailed BID Proposal. If the majority of businesses vote yes, then every business pays a levy based on a percentage of the rateable value of the premises they occupy.We are keen to talk to as many businesses as possible; to enable us to shape the full proposal.A BID for the Marble Arch area will include the northern stretch of Park Lane, Marble Arch, Connaught Village, Seymour Place, and Edgware Road to, and including, the Marylebone Flyover.The BID’s activities are concentrated on the following themes and projects:A Business Improvement District for Marble Arch• Stewardship – introducing a uniformed, visible presence to manage back levels of anti-social behaviour and aggressive begging, to make the location safer and more attractive to your staff, guests and customers, especially during the evenings and at night.• Area promotion - celebrating the area’s heritage and spaces, lifting the cultural offer through events, markets, street food, festivals, themed promotions, guest services and local loyalty schemes.• Public realm – working with Transport for London (TfL) and Westminster City Council (WCC) to introduce more green infrastructure, extending public art into surrounding areas, promoting safer pedestrian movement.

This partnership brings together major businesses and landowners in The Edgware Road area. These include, Waitrose, The Marriot Marble Arch, The Portman Estate, British Land, Maroush Restaurant Group, The Victoria Services Club, The Church Commissioners and The Hilton Metropole.Together we aim to provide a strong, collective voice for local businesses and to develop a shared vision for improving the Edgware Road area for people who live here, work or visit. We would like to see more businesses, large and small, join us in our efforts.
