About Martin Render

In my 30+ years working I have become experienced in Safety, Training, Industrial Cleaning Services, Trade, Wholesale, Timber/Builders Merchants, Timber Importing, Warehousing and logistics, Construction, Retail, and Manufacturing industries. I am accustomed to fast-paced, high-pressured positions, demonstrated ability to prioritise multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and provide quality service; this has resulted in me receiving promotion and rewards for my efforts. I provide effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and relations quickly with a wide variety of different personalities.Throughout my career, I have utilised my vast previous experience, skills, and innovation to meet or exceed business objectives. This has enhanced company systems, reduced accident rates, and ensured the continual improvement for a safer workplace. Even with this ability to contribute to the company I'm working for, I have been regularly overlooked when it came to additional training in health and safety (despite making annual requests). This is because of my ability to understand, convey, and apply the current legislation to support the employees and management and effectively get the job done with minimal risk.

Listed skills include Risk Assessment, Safety Management Systems, Workplace Safety, Hazard Identification, and 42 others.

Quality, Health, Safety And Environmental Coordinator

Future Industrial Services Ltd

Hull

REDUNDANCY 31/08/20. My responsibilities were to support the HSQE Manager, Management, and staff regardless of status, on health, safety, quality, and environmental matters. I significantly contributed to Client Health and Safety Pre Qualification Questionnaires, and in maintaining the company's OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 & ISO 9001 certifications. I also contribute to maintaining other industry-specific accreditations e.g. Achilles, ConCom, CHAS, Safecontractor, etc. I have years of experience and skills in developing ad-hoc systems for data analysis that provide management with the required information so they can monitor, action, or communicate with the workforce. I developed a bespoke transport system to monitor and analyse the Drivers Daily Vehicle Defect Reports, which provides management with, driver vehicle report completion performance, vehicle defect monitoring, vehicle utilisation, and more required information. A simplified version of this system is now running on another parent company branch site. I constantly strived to provide efficiencies in the company's Safety Management System and have several developments in the pipeline to help make the current system easier for everyone to use. I was employed in a office bound capacity due to site work restrictions in high hazard environments not permitting the use of a wheelchair for mobility.

Jun 2014 - Aug 2020

Health & Safety Advisor

Kingstown Works Limited

Hull, United Kingdom

When I joined the company they set me the challenge of creating and implementing an entire Safety Management System (SMS). Through consulting all departments and under minimal supervision, within 3 months I had developed a SMS that was sufficient to pass a nationally recognised safety competency accreditation called CHAS, (Contractor Health And Safety assessment scheme). This SMS continually developed and evolved during the period that I worked for the company, and condensed the CHAS application arrangements from the orginal 90 working days to just 3 a 97% reduction. I created the company’s Construction Design and Management System as well as all the Construction Phase Plans and relevant Health and Safety Files as the Principle Contractor for Hull City Council. As part of my professional duty I regularly gave safety inductions, visited working sites for the purpose of policy compliance, safety auditing, and employee support.Through consultation and cooperation of employees within the company, we continued to develop, simplify, and monitor the SMS in working towards an OHSAS 18001 accreditation. I can proudly state that during my 5 years of employment the SMS contributed to a reduction of 71% in employee accident rates.Reason for leaving: Redundancy due to company merger & restructuring.
