I was a Professor of Art History for over 40 years. My research and professional interests include Modern European art, art theory and criticism; feminist art history; art history in art education, public art, art and the Jewish experience and contemporary art. I have published two books and numerous other scholarly works, and have lectured all over the US, in Europe, and in China. For more than twenty years, I was involved with efforts to improve art education in the nation's schools, efforts catalyzed by the J. Paul Getty Trust, with whom I was closely associated for almost 12 years, including serving as a policy advisor for 7 years. In addition, I was a successful academic administrator for 17 years, heading departments at three different universities. I have also been involved in the commissioning of numerous public art projects and have served as curator for a number of exhibitions. One of my major exhibitions, co-curated with Dr. J. Susan Isaacs of Towson University, was "A Complex Weave: Women and Identity in Contemporary Art." This major exhibition opened in Fall, 2009, at Rutgers Camden's Stedman Gallery and has been shown at six other venues throughout the US. Other recent exhibitions co-curated include "Ornament and Narrative: Women Artists of Eastern Diasporas," and Here to There: Parallel Trajectories,: both at Rutgers-Camden's Stedman Gallery. My most recent major project , co-curated with Dr. Susan Isaacs, is an exhibition of the work of contemporary Israeli artists whose work focuses on issues of geography, in the broadest sense: "Visions of Place: Complex Geographies in Contemporary It appeared at Rutgers-Camden's Stedman Gallery in Fall, 2015, and then, was shown at Towson University, in Spring, 2016.
