I am an engineer at heart that enjoys solving problems. Throughout my career I have developed a skillset to understand complex problems and develop innovative solutions that deliver value to the business. I matriculated in 2000, from Crawford College with 6 distinctions. After graduating top of my class with an Electronic Engineering Degree (BEng), I joined 5DT, one of only 3 companies worldwide that develop virtual reality training simulators for the mining, aerospace and defence industries. Within 4 years I progressed to a senior manager level, managing a team of 20 people from various disciplines. This provided me with the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of both hardware and software elements as an integrated whole, as well as the engineering life cycle. In pursuit of new challenges, I moved into a strategy consulting role at Deloitte Consulting. Within a year I was promoted into a management role at Deloitte. This role has afforded me the opportunity to work with senior mine executives and board members at some of the largest mining companies in South Africa in a number of engagements. These engagements included business improvement, project execution readiness assessments, turnaround strategies, management control system development and portfolio optimisation models amongst others. These projects were often presented at board level and included in board packs for discussion. When my son was born, I decided to move away from the consulting space which took me away from my family most weeks. I rejoined 5DT as the business improvement manager focusing on refine internal business processes, and also heavily involved in international trade shows and projects. I was promoted to COO in 2018, looking after the entire product development cycle, and ensuring the business is ready to meet our strategy. I also completed my MEM (Masters in Engineering Management) in this time.I have refined my skill set over the years and have developed strong business acumen. I have also advanced my ability to understand, develop and improve business processes, business cases and operating models as well as client specific models. I have mastered the necessary skills to ensure optimised decision making process for the benefit of my clients and their respective businesses. I have expanded my project management skills and knowledge by completing my Prince 2 project management qualification.
