As Head of Synergen, I direct and manage the strategic and commercial operation of four peaking plants with a combined output of 396MW. Synergen Power Stations are geographically distributed across South Australia. I am responsible for a full spectrum of power station operation including: • Asset Management strategies, • Outage strategies and overall outage execution, • Overseeing maintenance of key systems and auxiliary infrastructure to a prescribed technical standards and quality, • Technical and regulatory compliance, • Health and Safety obligation, and• Direct management of all Synergen personnel. Achievements• Successful negotiation of South Australia System Restart Contract.

Hazelwood Power Station - Victoria

• Successfully combined Planning Department and Maintenance Department into more efficient and streamlined Station Maintenance team.• Provide maintenance services to the station, within internal policies, legislative requirements in order to enable and optimise production.• Influence people across all areas of the business in order to obtain information and insights to maintain effective and ongoing relationships with a variety of stakeholders.• Actively manage the application of Hazelwood’s safety systems by ensuring full managerial, supervisory and personal accountability for safety behaviours.• Manage station inventory planning (normal operations & outages) and station maintenance planning & scheduling to ensure minimum impact on station operations. • Prepare and deliver the maintenance plan to ensure minimal disruption to production.• Manage the OHS/Environment/Risk policies in accordance with regulatory requirements.• Manage the execution of the station asset planning process, following the long term station plan. • Manage contractor relationships to achieve agreed contracting KPI’s in order to achieve value for money in labour services.Achievements• Successful delivery of sloping wall replacement outages on units 1, 2 & 3 ahead of planned completion and below budget with minimal preparatory work. • Significant contribution to reduction of station outages since commencement of the role from 96 in 2015 to 66 in 2016, through implementation of business strategy of boiler pressure de-rating and engineering data analysis combined with implementation of feedback received from Operations and Trading for inclusion in the station maintenance plan.

• Manage operation of E,C&I maintenance team of Technical Officers and Engineers, • Develop and implement electrical maintenance strategies in the power station to drive maintenance expenditure reduction,• Manage E,C&I maintenance budget, • Review incoming defects and provide technical advice to Maintenance, Production and Planning Managers, • Investigate electrical incident and safety breaches within the power station,• Supervise execution of EC&I maintenance routines by main maintenance contractor and number of projects delivered by external contractors,• Manage Maintenance of the power station water treatment assets, including strategies, budget and resources.
