During fall 2022, I managed excel census data for thousands of trees located across different sites in the northern and southern lower peninsula to support my faculty advisor's research. I compared data from two periodic censuses and transferred this data into another dataset that assigned UTM coordinate values to each tree. Duties also occasionally included field work, such as collecting tree cores and DBH values to support other student research.

During summer 2022, I worked to collect and identify all floral species flowering or fruiting from a suite of sites that were visited periodically throughout the summer. Duties involved carefully removing and recording plants and using dichotomous keys and microscopes to verify specimens. These records were used to create a floristic quality index which we can reference with century old observations to asses how local ecosystems are changing.

In summer 2021, I initiated data collection for a multi year study that followed a restoration effort to mitigate runoff in an agricultural drain via installed native tree species. I collected and recorded stomatal conductance and samples of biomass of invasive grass growing around the trees. In this position I completed work orders in a timely manner around campus, while improving my proficiency with all components of painting, including site preparation, wall repairs, and painting techniques.
