About Martin Willis

As a social psychologist, I am particularly interested in ways in which subjectivity involves relationships between our bodies and the social and material contexts in which we live. This work has involved the qualitative exploration of emotions in the workplace, workplace distress, and the relationship between feeling and thinking. I have recently developed an interest in critical realism and what it can offer psychology and in the social psychology of social class (particularly the experiences of individuals from a working-class background as students in elite universities and in professional occupations).
