The People Opposing Poverty in Society Foundation, in short, The POPS Foundation, is a registered NON-PROFIT Organisation as well as a registered Public Benefit Organisation.Currently feeding over 60 000 meals per month. We operate in all areas across the Bay, receive no funding and do our own fundraising and depend on the community for assistance. Donations are tax deductible i.t.o. Sect 18The founders, along with family members started engaging in charitable deeds in 2006. This has inspired us to form an organisation and reach out on afull time basis, hence The POPS Foundation was started. The main objective of the Foundation is to alleviate poverty and hunger which isstill very much prevalent in our communities in and around the Nelson MandelaBay Metropole.We reach out to the underprivileged in the following manner:* Setting up soup kitchens in poverty stricken areas* Feeding projects at schools and daycare centers who accommodate kids from underprivileged backgrounds and where poverty and unemployment is rife* Food parcels to needy households, Old Age Homes and orphanages* Special projects such as the Annual Winter Drive to collect & distribute warm clothing, blankets, shoes and food parcels* Special treats at year-end when you and i have all the luxury and they have nothing to look forward to. We prepare for them a fun day with meals, cakes, party packs, toys, gifts, entertainment* Tea party for Senior Citizens at year-end* Disaster relief
