Managing Editor
San Francisco, California, Us
Editing, reporting, and producing pieces/interviews for KALW's daily local program, Crosscurrents. My work includes managing our volunteer staff, developing and maintaining our web presence at KALW.org, blogging and curating our local arts and culture coverage.I started working with KALW News part-time, reporting pieces for Crosscurrents, and coordinating an on-going series called "The Economic Edge: Documenting the Downturn", which combined reports by professional journalists with dispatches from regular members of the community to gauge the impact of the economic crisis at a local level. I was in charge of coordinating our coverage both by reporters and by community members, editing pieces, producing and mixing dispatches from the community, reporting stories myself, connecting with community organizations, and maintaining our series blog.I then moved on to curating our arts and culture coverage, editing pieces from our freelancers and volunteers for air on Crosscurrents, as well as doing my own arts and culture reports and interviews. In October 2010, I was promoted to Managing Editor of KALW News, and am now working closely with the Executive Editor to craft our local program and arts, culture, news coverage. While in this position, I helped oversee the founding of our Audio Academy, thereby formalizing our intern and volunteer program.
