Martin first received formal training in incident management in 1989, at a time when the UK was suffering a blight of major disasters causing serious psychological harm.Since then he has worked with many hundreds of traumatised individuals, families or teams of colleagues of different nationalities. He's learnt the clear benefits of providing early interventions, such as reassuring information and helpful guidance, to the victims of trauma. Well-informed victims are less likely to mismanage otherwise frightening and confusing reactions. This helps avoid unnecessary distress and anger.Martin became a specialist Mental Health professional in 1992 after which he founded and managed a Disaster Response Team and managed a Community Mental Health Team for a UK Local Authority and a Mental Health NHS Trust.Martin has been a full-time Incident Management Consultant, Trauma Counsellor and Trainer since he joined the private sector in 2000. Since founding Clarity Stress and Trauma Ltd he and his team help organisations of all sizes to prepare for and respond to traumatic incidents. By doing the right things at the right time they can reduce psychological distress, protect reputations and bring costs under control.Martin has helped scores of businesses to achieve better outcomes when unwanted incidents strike. He has personally provided direct psychological support after hundreds of incidents, large and small, on six Continents.He is also a highly experienced trainer who brings his experience to Clarity's training courses and Workshops. The hundreds of training courses that he has designed have been delivered to organisations including: the Bank of England, the Globus Family of Brands, Carnival Plc, Barclays Bank, London City Airport and numerous others.Martin lectures on Trauma Response and Personal Resilience at the Universities of Coventry, Wolverhampton and Gloucestershire. He speaks at Conferences and has been interviewed on the BBC, ITV and Sky.
