As a licensed architect for more than thirty-five years I have enjoyed full participation in all segments of the profession. My expertise extends from needs evaluation through design, presentation and construction drawings, specifications, and field services. I have supervised production and have operated my own solo architectural practice. I have been an instructor at technical colleges teaching architectural rendering, model building and construction drawing. I have served as an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association. I am a member of the American Institute of Architects, the Construction Specifications Institute, and am a founding member of the Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati. I am currently operating an architectural consulting practice specializing in design detail integration, drawing adequacy reviews, and specification production. My experience convinces me of one basic thing: the key to having your design constructed in accordance with your vision, and without embarrassing cost extras, lies in providing quality construction documents.Quality drawings and specifications clearly convey the design intent and have the following attributes: Drawings are pertinent and fully illustrate all conditions and features. Details are graphically clear, technically correct, appropriate, and capable of being constructed. Terminology is correct, consistent and used properly. Rigorous specifications are coordinated with the drawings and succinctly define material quality and performance expectations. Quality construction drawings and specifications support collaboration between architect, owner, and contractor. It is deficient and contradictory documents that result in adversarial relationships and increased costs.Specialties: • Design integration and document quality control• Technical specification production• Drawing / specification coordination• Product research and evaluation• Design detail collaboration• Construction detail development• Constructability reviews• Inter-disciplinary drawing reviews• Drawing adequacy reviews• ADA compliance reviews• Goals clarification• Program development assistance• Existing conditions analysis• Preliminary feasibility studies
