• Perform clinical testing of patient samples, which includes set-up of assays, data analysis and reporting of results to providers•Supervise lab personnel in performing specialized technical procedures. Assists in troubleshooting and provide direction in handling of procedural and technical issues.• Under the guidance of the Medical Director, develop and implement department specific processes/procedures and quality control programs to ensure reliability of testing procedures, proper function of laboratory equipment, and compliance to safety/health and state/federal/licensing regulations.• Develop (write), implement and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).• Responsible for QA and QC, including review of testing results to ensure accuracy and precision.• Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control processes and document quality control activities• Ensure accurate and efficient laboratory services are always provided by the laboratory.• Provides technical instructions, training and guidance to the laboratory staff.• Work with all laboratory departments to facilitate communications and streamlined laboratory processes.• Prioritize testing based on assignment or established priorities and completes testing within defined turn-around times.

-Review highly complex laboratory test results, specifically PGx (Pharmacogenetic) results, performing quality control, interpreting and releasing patient results in the context of local, state and federal laboratory requirements. -Ensure laboratory tests are accurately performed and results are reported in a timely manner-Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel of the department-Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate assay coverage-Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary-Engage in continuous process and service level improvements-Ensure all equipment is being properly maintained through Quality Control-Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents-Perform bench work as needed and maintain proficiency/competency in technical operations-Ensure all work is in accordance with state and Federal regulations-Assist in maintaining CAP, CA State, FDA, and other accreditation and regulatory agency standards and regulations-Engage in continuous process and service improvement. Make and implement recommendations to improve operational efficiency and implement new services for areas of responsibility-Responsible for administering and managing policies and procedures-Write SOPs, competencies, and training checklist

The Lab Assistant performs age specific venipuncture and capillary puncture, and processes specimens for transport. -Answers phones and provides clerical support for the laboratory. -Ensures performance and safety standards are met. -Ensures inventory and supplies are stocked appropriately. -Serves as a liaison for the laboratory and interacts with physicians, nurses and customers to provide a positive outcome.

-Oversee the Microbiology Department: Daily operations, direct management of quality control, employee competency assessments and training.-Handle and process patient samples, analyze test results, prepare reports and maintain records and test results.-Troubleshoot instrument and method problems. Determine needs for repeat testing. -Set up, aliquot and load sample for molecular extraction and PCR.-Write SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for Microbiology department.-Inoculate specimens onto appropriate culture media and incubate cultures according to establish protocol.-Perform antibiotic sensitivity testing as necessary according to established protocol.-Analyze and interpret test and control data. Report results to physicians expediently.

-Uses independent judgment to perform basic to advanced laboratory-based procedures to include pipetting, bacteriology isolation techniques, staining slides and microscope work, tissue culture and molecular biology techniques.- Maintain multiple mammalian cell lines (Splitting, changing media and seeding)- Proper aseptic techniques used daily for samples, cleaning, and sterilization. - Media Prep and QC Media/Reagents.- Collect, test, analyze and archive specimens.- Prepare, review and report results of microbiological analyses.

-Prepares laboratory specimens for designated departments/locations prior to laboratory analysis and testing.-Unpacks specimens from branches or ports and routes specimens by type to various staging areas. -Prepares all specimens received for testing in designated laboratory departments or locations such as staging of specimens, centrifuge, separate serum, and blood smears. -Aliquots sample for departments. Prepares excess specimen samples for storage and resolves and document problem specimens.
