I'm a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a member of the British Computer Society, the Association for Geographic Information, the British Cartographic Society and the Government Science and Engineering Geography Profession. After graduating with a degree in Geography I have worked in both the private and public sectors. Since joining local government in 2004 I have been responsible for the maintenance of land and property gazetteers and other spatial data and the operation, maintenance, user support and supplier liaison for spatially-enabled ICT systems at two local authorities in the north of England. I have also held similar responsibilities at a fire and rescue service. I also have experience of capturing spatial data in the field on behalf of Ordnance Survey.I entered the geographic information industry having stumbled across it during the databases module of an MSc IT course I undertook in 2001/2. Having a geography degree it seemed to make sense to pursue it further. Happily it still does!Prior to that I enjoyed a career over nearly twenty years at the multi-award winning airline British Midland in which I gained experience of customer service, business system change projects, IT system user support and supplier liaison.Specialities: GIS, ESRI ArcGIS, Idox Uniform, AgilePM® (2014) Practitioner, PRINCE2 Foundation Level, ITIL Foundation Level, Lean Business Process Improvement, Risk Management, User support for spatially-enabled ICT systems, Land and property gazetteer, BS7666, spatial data management (including Ordnance Survey data), airline reservations and ticketing systems.
