My passion for working with big data started on a single instance of SQL Server storing large volumes of clickstream data for a large financial company. From there I ventured into the classic MPP data warehouse architecture of Teradata and later into Microsoft's MPP entry product called SQL Server Parallel Data Warehouse which later became known as APS (Analytics Platform System). My fascination for distributed systems grew so I joined Microsoft to a part of Microsoft's journey into the big data space.As a Product Manager on the SQL Datawarehouse team, I gained more exposure to the semi-structured world of big data while working on external tables and Polybase functionality which in-turn led me down the career path to Apache Spark.As a Product Manager on the Azure Synapse Team for Apache Spark, I had the opportunity to lead the product advancement from pricing models to driving key features.I am now leading a team of Product Managers to reimagine and innovate the data engineering experience. My goal is to change how Data Engineers and Data Scientists interact with the data in a more intuitive way that we can decentralize the concepts of a siloed data warehouse with virtualization over the lake. Specialties: Apache Spark, Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Parallel Data Warehouse, Microsoft Power BI. SQL Data Warehouse, and the most important skill of all, customer empathy.
