Observer, Coach, Trainer (OCT) and Assistant Team Leader at the Live Fire Division of the Joint Readiness Training Center. Assist in leading a team of multiple OCTs who train US Army infantry companies and battalions through complex, stressful live fire exercises involving hundreds of soldiers and numerous vehicles, before they deploy overseas or are available to deploy overseas for combat operations.

Fort Polk, Louisiana

Commander of an airborne infantry company that is equipped to deploy and fight both as the Opposing Forces at the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) and for missions worldwide. The company consisted of 104 paratroopers, 11 armored vehicles, 12 wheeled utility vehicles, numerous weapons, and other organizational property valued at $50 million. The company had a unique purpose at JRTC: to simulate combat against other Army units as the enemy in dynamic scenarios. Missions included replicating enemy insurgents, criminals, light infantry, motorized infantry, mechanized infantry, airborne infantry, and special forces.

Fort Polk, Louisiana

Member of the JRTC OPFOR staff, and lead planner for all exercises at JRTC. Led the administrative planning effort for five JRTC rotations, enabling successful execution by all the OPFOR; typically around 1,000 people.Led the operational planning effort for 15 large scale attacks and defenses, providing a subordinate OPFOR units with all necessary plans, documents, and products.Led planning effort for one Mission Readiness Exercise (preparing troops for deployment to Afghanistan) enabling execution of multicultural and enemy focused training events. Planned and directed over 15 critical rehearsals, each involving the participation of over 50 leaders and occasionally VIPs.

Fort Polk, Louisiana

Controlled and observed training for platoon and company sized elements during realistic, advanced collective training in preparation for overseas deployments. Mentored over 50 junior leaders on infantry tactics, leadership, operational planning, resourcing in harsh environments, and dealing with stress and ambiguity. Provided feedback to the training unit and leaders with PowerPoint, poster, and verbal presentations, many of which were in the field. Conducted over 30 briefings of this type to platoon and company sized audiences (30-100 people).

Fort Wainwright, Alaska

Key player in the development of plans for all battalion operations and training. Responsible for developing verbal and written orders sent to subordinate units. Responsible for setting up and running the main battalion Tactical Operations Center (TOC) during operations, including during a three week training exercise and a three day mission command exercise. Lead the Battalion’s planning and resourcing effort for a large scale, 5 week training exercise. This exercise included six distinct, major training events for over 500 hundred soldiers.

Fort Wainwright, Alaska

Selected by the battalion commander out of 15 other lieutenants to lead the 32 member reconnaissance platoon. All soldiers in the platoon were hand picked, expert infantry soldiers. Mission of the platoon was to provide the commander with intelligence on the enemy. Maintained and accounted for organizational equipment valued at $12.5 million. Planned, resourced, and executed a tryout for the platoon. The tryout assessed over 40 candidates on multiple events and categories including their intelligence, physical fitness, endurance, and ability to survive in Arctic conditions.

Fort Wainwright, Alaska

Led a 46 member platoon consisting of 3 rifle squads, a machine gun squad, and four Stryker armored vehicles. Primary mission was to close with and destroy the enemy. Maintained and accounted for organizational equipment valued at $10 million. Led the platoon during numerous training events in Arctic conditions including a six platoon live fire exercises.
