In 1997 I started working as an attorney at law at Kennedy Van der Laan, where I head the Commercial & International Trade Team. The group handles trade, distribution, franchise and commercial agency cases. Product and competition compliance and supply chain aspects (logistics, sales, sourcing, transport) play an important role. We handle transactions, advice and and dispute resolution. We help clients to shape and transition distribution channels, in particular complex cross border networks such as selective distribution and franchise. My practice is international, and I assist Dutch clients too. I have a personal link with The United States of America and Australia (and the Asia-Pacific region) since I studied and worked there for several years. My personal practice is aimed at Anglo-American companies doing business in the EMEA region. Lately, much of my work relates to the Middle East, Africa and expansion of my clients into North America.Clients hire me for a wide range of commercial matters, in particular in specialized areas and markets such as technology & platforms, fashion, retail, hospitality, travel and leisure, health care and pharma. Clients say they like my ‘sharp strategic vision and true partnership’ and find me ‘assertive and effective’. It inspires me to solve problems and to find innovative and creative solutions, often stepping out of the traditional role as an attorney at law.A recent project is the creation of the ‘Customized Alliance’, with Nike as launching customer, an innovative concept which allows multinationals to work with selected firms in a number of European countries, under the leadership and coordination by Kennedy Van der Laan, creating savings and efficiencies and driving convergence.Specialties:Franchise, Distribution & Commercial agencyEU and Dutch Competition lawLitigation & ArbitrationInternational Commercial ContractsInternational Trade
