In this role I am expected to manage the daily control of picking, loading and delivery activity of products and all "bought in"​ goods. I am also responsible for the smooth, safe and efficient running of the Logistics Department in order to maximise operational efficiency whilst maintaining the required standards of internal and external customer service in line with Hovis Supply Chain business requirements, ensuring "On Time, In Full" product delivery to customers with minimal waste.

The role of Logistics Team Leader is to support the operational requirements outlined by the Site Operations Management Team, by managing and organising a diverse team of Distribution personnel to meet order-fill requirements in line with the agreed client loading and delivery schedule “In Time, On Time, In Full”, and within agreed budget levels. In addition, I am responsible for managing the team in a way that supports the Company’s ethos on Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement and high work standards. Key accountabilities of the position include monitoring accordance with all business systems including SAP, PTL, Track & Trace, Isotrack, PM3 and Tachomaster and monitoring accordance of all Company policies, procedures, processes and systems applicable to the function. I will also be required to deputise for the Site Operations FLM when required.

I was a Yard Marshall within the HOVIS RDC at Mossend. This role involved the control of vehicles, trailers, drivers and contractors entering and leaving the RDC. In addition, I worked closely with my warehouse and transport colleagues to ensure the smooth and efficient control of vehicles and trailers leaving on their routes and arriving with products for unloading, sorting and onward delivery. This formed a major part of the role. I have responsibility for monitoring vehicles and trailers required for repair and service and liaising with vehicle services to do this.I am also responsible for instructing visiting drivers and agency staff on the SSOW for the site.Throughout the Yard Marshall role effective communication, exceptional organisational skills and people skills are essential, as is being able to work unsupervised, have the ability to make decisions quickly and to work on my own initiative.Working closely with the Transport Department FLM's has given me an in depth knowledge of our Transport Office functions, their role in planning routes and rotas and the use of Isotrak vehicle tracking and management system for route optimisation. I also worked closely with transport managers and planners in relation to the best use of vehicles, trailers and routes to assist in the delivery of the departments KPI's.I had responsibility for carrying out weekly digital downloads from the company vehicle tachographs and uploading them to the Tachomaster website.I have an excellent knowledge of the Drivers' Hours Regulations and the Working Time Directive.

TOAST was a sandwich and coffee shop that I owned and operated. I was responsible for the day to day running of the shop including stock, revenue and all relevant legislation.

Class 1 LGV DriverI joined Premier Foods in July 2007. I was employed as a Distribution Operative within the Hovis Division of their business based at their RDC in Mossend near Glasgow. I hold a Class 1 LGV licence and have experience driving class 1, 2 and 7.5 tonne vehicles. In my role at HOVIS I delivered the companies bread and morning goods products. These were time sensitive deliveries, both to our own distribution centres and to major clients such as Morrisons, Aldi, Marks and Spencer and various national Cash and Carry outlets. I am experienced in hauling trailers including double deck trailers, fridge trailers and have experience in trunk work and large store deliveries.

I worked in various roles during my 22 years with Strathclyde Police both in uniform and plain clothes, in both urban and rural areas as well operational and departmental roles. I spent several years working in Corporate Communications and Media Services. I also had time in a supervisory role as a Sergeant based in South Lanarkshire.
