Making advanced fiber composites more accessible.Wide spread adoption of performance materials such as carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP) can only be realized utilizing advanced automated production systems and user-friendly, fully integrated workflows.

My research in the field of aerospace contains the exploration and the development of a new AM (additive manufacturing) technology for "3D printing" of complex structures made out of continuous fiber reinforced plastics (e.g. CFRP). The ETH Zurich technology is capable of printing complex geometries and partly free standing structures with high load-bearing properties by simultaneously providing a flexible and commercially viable AM processing route.

The integration process of ZF Friedrichshafen after the billion-dollar acquisition of TRW is led by Dr. Holger Klein and his integration management team. My work assignments within Dr. Klein's team were mainly based in synergy controlling and the establishment of new communication channels.

Product Development, Marketing, SalesMy task contains the development of a business case for the launch of a new sealing product at the Henkel subsidiary Loctite. Including the market analysis, potential analysis, business plan and specific action plan for product launch.

The master's thesis was inspired by conventional 3D-printing technologies. Novel 3D composite lattice structures imply superior mechanical properties, therefore, makes them an ideal candidate for new ultralight core materials. New concepts such as the Cuboct were develped at MIT and proved feasible for future applications. Nevertheless, there is no commercially applicable manufacturing route in industry, yet.I developed a new technique which enables a freeform extrusion of continuous composite material. The project included an extensive literature research, prototype design, manufacturing of the prototype, investigation of processing conditions, numercial simulation and experimental validation. The technique proved promising and was patented by my brother, Florian Eichenhofer, and myself throughout the course of the thesis (DE102014006706A1).

My work assignment involved the development and supervision of a "zero gravity laboratory" at the University of Zurich. The project called ARES was set to investigate the mutation of human cells exposed to zero gravity. In order to simulate zero gravity conditions for a certain period of time, the team developed a portable laboratory that can be deployed and installed in a F16 fighter jet of the Swiss military. The fighter jet follows a desired trajectory of a parable to create zero gravity conditions.

As member of the advanced technology development department at MTU Friedrichshafen my bachelor's thesis was assigned to the development of a novel simulation tool for oil quality tracking. The tool used artificial neural networks to determine a pattern out of a big data pool recorded mainly for high speed trains. The goal was to make a destinct anticipation of the future oil condition and suggestion of individual oil change intervals.
