The Office Of Counseling and Post Secondary Success aims to build a strong SFUSD counseling community of change agents and leaders, to establish professional school counselor identity and promote positive post secondary outcomes for all students.Strategic Actions :-Provide relevant district and on site professional development and coaching-Targeted specialized student population support including: Students with Incarcerated Parents, Newcomers, Undocumented Students, English Language Learners, System Involved Youth-Collaborate with district departments, higher education and community based organizations-Implementation of a Comprehensive School Counseling Program -Utilize data to assess needs, target interventions and inform practice

Provide intensive services to Middle School (7 & 8 grade) students in a bilingual K-8 site within Boston Public Schools that encourage a successful transition to high school and ultimately postsecondary enrollment including persistence towards on-time graduation in a rigorous course of study. The Education Advisor works with a caseload of students conducting workshops andplanning activities that engage students, while connecting their families and schools with resources. Programming includes but is not limited to financial literacy, college and career readiness and STEM initiatives.

• Served as District liaison to City College of San Francisco High Schools programs including providing training and professional development to all high school counselors, dual enrollment recruitment and outreach at 8 high schools, coordination of credit recovery for students in 9-12 grades district wide and best practices for transitioning matriculating seniors.• Supported district wide Postsecondary Success activities including event planning, implementation and management including an annual event, which brings 1,200 seniors to local college campuses for a high school to college transition event.• Created and maintained web content for district post secondary support web pages and programs.• Engaged and collaborated with community partners to support district wide initiatives such as supporting all seniors to apply for financial aid.• Planned and presented at monthly counselor professional development trainings. Provided technical assistance for high school counselors.•Collected, analyzed and reported counseling department data to make program recommendations.

• Counseled students in individual and group settings to assist them to explore, interpret, and develop personal decision-making competencies; to enhance self-esteem; and to make necessary changes in attitudes regarding behavior; peer mediation.• Served as liaison between school and outside agencies (e.g., police, mental health agencies, child welfare, district school operations, juvenile probation, and violence prevention groups for caseload of 350 students) including effectuating remediation plans for students with attendance, behavior, and learning problems to support more positive behavior, including utilization of restorative practices.•Assign and enforce appropriate consequences for higher-level behavior infractions.•Represent District in presentation of school’s case for expulsion hearings and counseling conferences.•Conducted Student Success Team & Student Attendance Team meetings to make appropriate decisions relative to students’ academic progress.• Provided consultation, training, and staff development to teachers and parents regarding students’ needs
