Martin is co-founder of TREES and has been working as a technical and strategic consultant for two decades in sustainability, carbon markets and corporate programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in their value chain ("scope 3 interventions"). He is an expert in long-term land use and forestry program design and assessment, change modelling, MRV design and setup (monitoring and reporting), governance, as well as impact methodology development and review. He has developed and registered several ground-breaking GHG quantification methodologies under leading voluntary carbon standards in nature-based solutions encompassing afforestation/ reforestation on degraded soils, methane reduction from enteric fermentation, and carbon increase (greenhouse gas removals) in agricultural soils through improved tillage, cover crops, and algae carbon approaches. Prior to his TREES engagement, Martin has led teams advising multinational clients in the financial services sector as a senior manager for organizational processes, business continuity management, and business information technology. He has led projects at local and global scale for medium to large corporate clients and has considerable experience managing multi-stakeholder programs. With a focus on operational effectiveness, risk mitigation and crisis reaction, he has assessed organizations and processes to eliminate weaknesses while emphasizing the importance of sustainable management and corporate development.
