Martin has worked with the Defense Logistics Agency since Dec 2021 as a Project Manager and Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. Previously he worked at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL) since 2012, supporting the Social Security Administration (SSA), the Defense Health Agency (DHA) and the Bureau of Navy Medicine & Surgery’s (BUMED) in Health Systems Engineering, Medical Logistics, Organizational Learning, Performance Improvement and Data Analytics. He holds deep expertise in performance improvement, main operating room process and patient flow, medical and dental clinic performance improvement, medical and dental sterile processing, medical logistics, materials management, facilitative techniques, change management, business improvement, policy development, project management and as a coach/mentor. Most recently, he was a Project Management Professional on SSA and DHA Medical Logistics (MEDLOG) projects. Formerly, he was a Project Manager with the Dental Enterprise Patient Safety project for BUMED. He has led an enterprise effort with Navy Medicine to standardize the Pre-Operative Evaluation Process across six of the largest Military Treatment Facilities and Medical Centers (MTFs and MCs). He has worked as Project Manager on Main Operating Room Patient Flow projects at the largest Navy Medical Center (San Diego), Navy Hospital (Jacksonville), Sterile Processing (San Diego, Portsmouth, Jacksonville, Dental Sterile Camp Lejeune 2nd Battalion and NPDS (Naval Postgraduate Dental School) and Service Treatment Record to the Fleet (Jacksonville).Martin holds a BSIE in Industrial Engineering and a MS in Mathematical and Applied Statistics from the Rochester Institute of Technology, graduating with highest honors. He is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP). In addition, he holds executive certificates in Lean Healthcare from the University of Tennessee and the University of Kentucky. He was a Lean lecturer in the Industrial Engineering College at Istanbul Technical University while on an expatriate assignment in Turkey. He has been an instructor with the University of Tennessee with the Haslam College of Business, teaching Lean Enterprise Advanced Courses to industry and the USAF, including certifying Lean Black Belts. He has presented and facilitated workshops, at major Lean conferences with IIE, AME, ASQ, and IAFIS. Martin is published in Lean and Quality.
