Martin Houle is a registered OAQ architect member of the Royal Architecture Institute of Canada (RAIC) combining three unique profiles in architectural media, structural engineering and philanthropy :First, he's Director and Founder of the reknowned platform called Kollectif (www.kollectif.net) established in 2006 that promotes Québec news and events specializing in architecture and design targeted towards the professional community. Kollectif took it upon itself to facilitate communication within the architectural community, enhance its notoriety in regards to the general public and to financially support its initiatives and organizations via notably the "Tournoi de golf des architectes du Québec" (see below). [-] In May 2023, Kollectif was awarded the prestigious Royal Architecture Institute of Canada (RAIC) "Advocate for Architecture Award". [-] In April 2024, Kollectif was bestowed the "Ambassador of Quality in Architecture Award" from the Ordre des architectes du Québec (OAQ).Second, as a senior associate and project coordinator for the structural engineering firm ELEMA (www.elema-ing.com), it's his duty to ensure that architectural elements of a major project are identified, assigned, analyzed, monitored and resolved in a timely manner by his fellow engineers. He's also responsible for brand and communication strategies of the firm.Third, in 2010, he became Director of the Québec Architects Golf Tournament (www.tgaq.net) which welcomes more than 400 players a year from across the province. The TGAQ now donates up to 50K annually to organizations promoting architectural culture and humanitarian initiatives in the province. As of 2019, more than $250,000 has been given to architecture schools and museums, heritage associations and architectural humanitarian organizations.Finally, Martin's regularly invited to participate in prize juries awarded to his peers at local, provincial and national levels, is an invited critic in many universities, and involved with various organizations like The International Festival of Films on Art.In 2015, he was personally awarded the title of "Honorary Member of the Year" by the Association des architectes en pratique privée du Québec (AAPPQ) for his "exceptional contribution to Québec's architectural community". Other recipients of this award were noticeably Jean-Paul L'Allier (ex-Mayor of Québec City), Marie-Josée Lacroix (Director of the City of Montréal Design Bureau), François Cardinal (Editor-in-chief of La Presse) and Michel Labrecque (General Manager of the Montréal Olympic Park).
