I'm an internationalist who sees the beauty and contributions of all kinds of people from all over the world. Appreciating diversity and working for equity and belonging have been lifelong pursuits. I am naturally curious and want to share the things that I learn. I was raised on a farm in rural Kentucky but have lived with my family in Portugal, Mozambique, Ghana, and Turkish Cyprus. As a non-profit professional, I have supervised people and projects in 17 countries and traveled to 41 countries. My undergrad degree is in Psychology. My first Master's Degree is in Church Leadership and my second Master's is in International Relations, which I received while in residence in Turkish Cyprus. I started a PhD in Education and Social Change, but my non-profit career did not pay sufficiently for me to complete it. (Maybe later!) Though I do not have degrees in Marketing or Communications, my career has demanded proficiency.I like people. I like experiencing new things. I am a proven leader. I like introducing people and concepts to others. I read a lot. Though my understanding of faith and ethics influences much of who I am, I am a very different person than I was early in my career when I served as a pastor and missionary. Peacebuilding, advocating for the marginalized, suits me much better. I am passionate about creating and amplifying narratives and environments that promote inclusion and mutual thriving. As the former Executive Director of Peace Catalyst International, I oversaw a team of 40 staff across 14 cities in the US and ten countries. I networked broadly in collaboration with our board and staff to increase our national and international footprint. Together, we recruited additional staff, received numerous grants, and opened work in seven additional countries. Peace Catalyst has led initiatives to address Islamophobia, racism, food security, refugee resettlement, and multifaith understanding. We have done programs in collaboration with the University of Notre Dame, Georgetown University, Tulane University, and the University of Louisville and numerous nonprofits and associations around the world.
