Global technical marketing position supporting applications of importance to HP massively parallel computing customers. Most recent applications included the UK Met office climate and weather models, the chemistry code NWCHEM, and the bioinformatics codes, NCBI BLAST, Autodock, ClustalW, HMMER and FASTA. Activities included performance optimization, porting, benchmarking and key customer support.After participating in a project to convert a 5+ million line, multi-language silicon compiler code from a 32-bit memory model to a 64-bit memory model, I rigorously stress tested the HP compiler optimization isolating several bugs using the code. I designed a representative customer benchmark suite to be used in profile based optimization and proved to the ISV that it could meet production release standards. It is the first and still the largest ever to achieve release in my organization. I did the first evaluation and release of Sockets Direct Protocol over Infiniband in a major application.

Leveraged the value of nCUBE computers to this customer and the value of the work performed at this site to nCUBE. Significantly influenced the design of Teraflop versions of both the nCUBE 3 and future nCUBE 4 systems as the technical lead in nCUBE's response to the Sandia RFQs for the ASCI program (Advanced Strategic Computing Initiative). Modified nCUBE's A/D, D/A and DIO drivers, testing the corresponding hardware components. Found and fixed related operating system bugs. Co-authored two papers in computational chemistry. Co-chaired the Workshop on Migration and Parallel Computing at the 1991 annual meeting of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists.

Converted a major migration and velocity filtering code to utilize the large memory and multiple processors of the FPS-5000. Provided technical support to the seismic OEM and large oil company accounts. Played a key role in winning FPS's first 64-bit OEM account. Represented FPS with the Vector Processing Consortium of the Allied Geophysical Laboratories of the U. of Houston. Was instrumental in securing FPS's participation in this consortium and FPS's contribution of a 3 co-processor 5430. Pin-pointed hardware problem at a customer site which impacted more than half FPS's installed base of co-processors. Wrote an application note and a Checkpoint article on the performance of the new CPFORTRAN compiler and demonstrated its use with single page mathlibraries and table memory.
