ChairCampaign For Equal Civil Partnerships Jan 2015 - Jun 2020I was awarded an OBE in the first King's Birthday Honours list in June 2023 for services to opening up Civil Partnerships to all. I was the honorary Chairman of the Campaign for Equal Civil Partnerships which campaigned successfully to have Civil Partnerships (as a modern alternative to marriage) made available in the UK to all couples, including heterosexual couples. The law was changed in England & Wales in December 2019 and later in Northern Ireland and Scotland.
