One of the core team of people in the global WikiHouse project: working to make the world a better place by building a better way. I have been contributing in the areas of 3D design, construction, project management, and strategy within this bold project around assisted self delivery of an affordable and high performance built environment. A system that permits neighbourhoods to be both designed and delivered by communities for communities - here in New Zealand and around the globe.

Digimojo enables organisations and businesses to grow through the creative and appropriate use of digital information and communication technologies. Client-focussed solutions centred on: digitally informed research and strategy, effective management of projects, designing and building smart Internet based systems, creative uses of digital media. Clients include national and international organisations and businesses in the US, UK and New Zealand. Recent work has also featured in Canadian, Australian and Taiwanese media. My experience covers a broad range of CMS (Textpattern, MODx, ExpressionEngine, Squarespace, WordPress, SilverStripe, Drupal and ProcessWire) alongside competence in a large number of digital media authoring tools and related technologies.

Involved in setting policy and strategy, appointing and nurturing staff and generally steering the Addington Net social enterprise - dedicated to embedding ICT in the community in a way that doesn't simply enable people to respond to prevailing conditions but enables them to drive growth both locally, and as a contributor to national prosperity (not just financially but in terms of resourceful, creative and innovative talent). Providing advice and support so Addington Net could deliver on its vision strong, engaged and empowered community. Developed an extensive list of tried and tested project models which leveraged innovative and cutting-edge training methods. Oversaw transition from CPIT ‘Computing for Free’ centre to a more independent and community owned project. Delivered programme of training for staff and board development. Redeveloped the Addington Net website to reduce costs and improve effectiveness.

Broadcasting on quake-related community information radio.

Influential in the development of company policy and strategy in one of the UK’s leading community media organisations. Helped establish a groundbreaking model for social enterprise within the creative industries - recognised as flagship project in its field by the UK Department of Trade and Industry. Established and delivered a strong commercial portfolio alongside a significant number of innovative community projects. Accrued significant experience in project management, training, consultancy and digital media production; including consultancy work and conference presentations for national bodies in the UK and the Netherlands. Played a key role in a large digital TV interactive services trial for the UK Government and delivered pioneering projects in community regeneration, engagement and participation through digital media. Worked on early data-driven websites and content management systems (CMS) and wireless networking in a community setting. Advanced-level training for a variety of clients; including staff at Huddersfield Technical College, Kirklees Metropolitan Council, Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council and CMG Admiral.

Provided consultancy, training and technical support services to numerous community organisations, small businesses, corporate customers and national bodies in the UK and Europe. Design, installation and maintenance of LAN and WAN, Internet and Intranet systems; including large Intranet application to support Leeds Training and Enterprise Council. Designed a number of innovative websites and multimedia products. Involved in early UK work on streaming audio.

Delivered training for adults on RSA vocational courses in desktop publishing. Provided a comprehensive programme of related studies in typography, design and computer graphics. Designed and delivered flexible learning solutions and a variety of imaginative courseware. Achieved an 89% exam pass rate amongst students. Succeeded in assisting the majority of course participants into employment. Undertook a significant upgrade of the computer training facility.

Provided technical support services for: 1,500 users and 225 computers; maintaining near 100% network uptime on seven heterogeneous networks across two sites. A key team-player in the development of long-term IT strategy. Managed several significant enhancements to the IT systems; doubling the available resources and improving reliability whilst cutting support costs. Delivered secure, cost-effective solutions within strict budgetary constraints. Integrated custom and industry-standard information systems. Responsible for significant improvements in systems reliability alongside 117% improvement in productivity for the on-site maintenance workshop. Implemented much improved software auditing and hardware tracking systems.

Lectured in various aspects of Information Technology and Computer Applications, including database concepts and information architecture, interface design, graphic design, desktop publishing and control technology. Developed a number of new courses and learning resources. Course evaluations indicated excellent levels of client satisfaction.

Set up and ran a new division of the company responsible for delivery and assessment of the RSA CLAIT (Computer Literacy and Information Technology) qualification. Designed and delivered varied and flexible training programmes across a diverse range of computer related disciplines. Co-ordinated vocational college courses, work placements and projects.

Gained solid experience in construction industry project management. Efficient co-ordination of resources resulted in delivery of ten demanding projects both on schedule and within budget. Met or exceeded demanding targets for quality control, and maintained an outstanding safety record. Cultivated a high level of motivation and team spirit among the site workers.
