Managing DirectorInsulex Jan 2009 - PresentFor years, I had a major interest in heat retention and studied it within the main construction industry. I looked at practices that were taking place in the insulation industry and they didn’t make sense to me. I knew I could make it better. And thus came the formation of Insulex (trading name of KCH) in 2009. Insulex are more than just an insulation company. We’re a HEATLOSS company. We look at the whole project and advise you where best your budget can be applied. We specialise in external insulation, internal dry lining, attic insulation, cavity wall pumping, airtightness, retrofitting windows and doors, plastering and roofing as well as all general building work including extensions and renovations.

Project Manager & DirectorKch Construction 2003 - 2009In 2003, the years of heavy lifting started to take its toll and I looked at where I envisioned myself. At this junction of my career, I felt the time was ripe to consider moving from a subcontracting position to one of complete management. This led to the formation of KCH Construction, which was responsible for general building work. Some of its most notable achievements are the design and construction of Castle Quay Holiday Homes and the restoration of a 15th century Norman Castle which was on the in danger of falling. It is now structurally stable and secure for generations to come. During this time I was also a partner in another company, MS Team contracting, holding the position of Project Manager and Director. MS Team was responsible for large commercial work including nursing homes, apartments, schools, community centers and warehouses. In 2007 I stepped down as Director, to follow my interest in the heat retention Industry.

I formed a partnership called RicMac construction, which became one of the largest block-laying companies in the Cork area with over 40 masons. RicMac were responsible for the block-laying in many large projects including the Rochestown Park Hotel and the Kingsley Hotel. In 2003 however, the years of heavy lifting started to take its toll and I looked at where I envisioned myself.
