From its inception, led the development of analysis, algorithm development and data management for MaST, Holmusk’s caseload management tool for community mental health services in the NHS. The tool has been implemented with 12 NHS trusts to date, recognised with Positive Practice in Mental Health awards in 2021 and 2022, and features in the NHS Digital Playbook. Specific personal highlights have included:- Developed the algorithm to assess risk of short-term mental health crisis, which underpins MaST’s core functionality, and is implemented only using SQL. Adapted the algorithm to be applicable across trusts and a range of mental health services, including community teams, early intervention in psychosis, older adults, and wellbeing teams.- Core member of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure clinical objectives and technical requirements are aligned with NHS trusts.- Helped a suicide prevention team reduce avoidable suicides by developing insights into how MaST can be used to highlight risk factors, and presented findings at Positive Practice in Mental Health event.- Directed the growth of MaST analytics from inception to a scalable analytical infrastructure capable of supporting delivery to 30 NHS trusts, whilst maintaining a lean team of three analysts.- Hired, trained and mentored analysts in best practice for query design, code management and client management.

Freelance analytics consultant. My primary area of expertise is in healthcare analytics, but I have also helped organisations in consulting, sport and fitness, meeting management, career development and other industries. Highlights have included:- Conducted ad hoc analysis across a wide range of subjects. These include helping identify local needs for MS nurse support through geographical mapping of nurse coverage across the UK; examining the life-expectancy of breeds of dog with mitral valve disease; identifying factors that make conferences more “successful”; and analysing beliefs of nuclear test veterans about consequences of their experiences on their health.- Extensive experience of drug forecasting, therapy area modelling, cost effectiveness modelling and budget impact modelling of interventions.- Designed and implemented incentive schemes and target setting for animal and human health pharmaceutical sales.- Developed and implemented a number of web apps, including a mobile-first, offline app for family doctors to access guidance in resource-poor settings (e.g. refugee camps); incentive scheme trackers to motivate sales teams; a fitness tracking app for a chain of gyms in London; and a tutor management system for private tutoring.- Developed and continue to maintain a full scale management system for a children’s sports club organisation, including designing a scheme for motivating children in sport.- Developed project management systems for a number of consulting firms to support them through their growth and success.

An initiative to establish community health schemes in poor, remote and scattered villages in India. Scheme members make small monthly contributions to pay for a healthcare worker for every 5 villages. In return villages have access to free basic healthcare, which they manage and control.
