I have ceased writing for my blog at http://www.fifty2ninety.com. The blog contained original articles and latest news of interest to Boomers and Post-Boomers about topics such as health, entertainment, sex, agism, discrimination, family, etc.. There were new posts every day and ongoing discussions with readers.Why have I stopped the blog after this much time and effort expended to grow it successfully:I’ve increasingly been feeling that all I was really doing when writing about these topics was to preach to the choir. It’s like talking politics with friends who share your political beliefs. It feels good to let it out, and I hope it makes others feel good and perhaps provides new information for them; but it doesn’t accomplishing anything else of significance that I can see.I’m also got tired of the righteous indignation I felt as I learned more about the discriminatory practices that older adults face every day.I’ve also come to the conclusion that I and others who write in this niche are in a certain sense empowering the ageists, the biased, and those who denigrate older adults because we devote too much of our time and energy to writing about them and trying to combat them, more often than not ineffectively, rather than focusing on and living our own lives fully and enjoyably -- which is what I'm happily doing now.
