Child Frontiers is a consulting company that promotes the care, well-being and protection of children. It's portfolio of work since 2008 in over 80 countries includes qualitative and quantitative research issues related to child and family well being and protection, programme evaluation, technical assistance, advisory services, training courses and capacity building. Child Frontiers works in partnership with a range of development and humanitarian agencies including governments, UN agencies, international and national NGOs, institutional donors and foundations. In this role I have supported a number of child protection and child care projects in Africa and Asia with both UNICEF and civil society clients.

Children Unite promotes participatory approaches to working with exploited children. Through consultancy and by delivering research and advocacy projects it supports child domestic workers, street connected children and sexually exploited children to claim their rights. I am currently supporting the organisation to develop a new ambitious strategy.

On behalf of the Government of Kenya, I facilitated the development of the Kenyan National Care Reform Strategy to bring 47,000 institutionalised and separated children into family-based care by 2031.

J.K. Rowling’s Foundation has a mission to end children growing up in institutions. Member of Lumos Executive Management Team. Led the Global Training and Advisory Services Department of 10 staff plus additional trainers located across three continents. Managed a £900,000 budget. Oversaw a global training strategy providing training and toolkits in care reform to governments, NGOs and practitioners. Trained approximately 11,000 people and increased reach from 34 to 70 countries. Developed a team culture of collaboration, openness and mutual support resulting in the highest levels of staff retention in the London office. Represented Lumos as a senior technical adviser to governments and the private sector in five countries. Represented Lumos at conferences and events in the UK, Ireland, Argentina, Bulgaria, Russia, and Ukraine.Supported the Fundraising Team with both institutional and major donor funding proposals.

A United States NGO with a mission to reunify trafficked children with their families in Nepal. Responsible for all Nepal-based strategy and operations. Managed a US$ 300,000 budget and 35 staff plus 40 volunteers. Steered NGN through period of change including a new 5-year Government-approved country strategy, a staff re-structure and new legally compliant HR policies, security policies and finance systems. Built and maintained relationships with key US and Australian donors. Income, staffing and programmes grew by 350% during my tenure.Led programmes impacting the lives of hundreds of institutionalised children involving family reintegration, leaving care, educational scholarships and capacity building for the Government and CSOs. Designed and led a 2015 earthquake response project involving child friendly spaces, anti-trafficking check-posts and sensitisation campaigns. Reached 46,000 families. Project showcased as a model of good practice to the European Commission DG ECHO.Pioneered Nepal’s orphanage trafficking/voluntourism campaign. Resulted in 'orphanage trafficking' being given legal recognition by the US State Dept, contributed to its inclusion in the Australian Modern Slavery Act, five foreign embassies changing their travel advice and the tourism sector divesting from ‘orphanage trips’. Represented NGN with the media and on high-level national and global technical working groups.

Nepal’s largest grassroots social movement advocating for the rights of the indigenous Tharu community. Responsible for capacity building of leadership and fundraising teams, and developing a 4-year strategy. Trained a fundraising team of local staff resulting in a 300% increase its annual income over two and half years. Secured a DfID grant worth US$ 500,000.Designed and led the BASE strategic planning process 2012-16. Wrote the final strategic plan.

Charities Evaluation Services (CES) was a UK social enterprise leading the not-for-profit sector in monitoring and evaluation and quality assurance. It has now merged with the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO). Co-authored PQASSO (Practical Quality Assurance System for Small Organisations), the 2008 UK Charity Finance Effectiveness Award winner with over 17,000 copies used internationally.Led the PQASSO Mentor Network of over 100 licensed consultants and trainers in the UK and Europe, updating them on policy developments through events, online resources and briefings. Managed and delivered large-scale consultancy and training contracts with not-for-profits. I established an active market presence for PQASSO in Scotland and Ireland.

Founded by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Kailash Satyarthi, Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA) is India’s largest social movement for child rights and anti-trafficking. Oversaw fundraising. Supported multinational companies to manage the risk of slavery in their supply chains. Supported one of the earliest investigations of child labour in the mica mining industry in Jharkhand, India, and its dissemination into the public domain through media, advocacy and partnerships with corporations. Established BBA’s first formal fundraising team. Secured a significant AusAID grant.

Community Organisations' Forum was a network and advocacy agency for not-for-profits based in Tower Hamlets, London, UK.Established, built-up and led the Voluntary Sector Children’s and Youth Forum, a network of 150 children’s not-for-profits working in partnership with the UK Government to further the ‘Every Child Matters’ agenda.
